Welcome to the first edition of the LensPicks Used Lens Market Report. Every month, our price tracking engine analyzes thousands of eBay listings to bring you data-driven insights on used camera lens prices. No opinions — just real market data.

Market Overview

Our system tracked over 10,000 used lens listings across 18 categories in May 2026. The average used lens price across all categories was approximately $450, with significant variation between brands and lens types. Below we break down the key trends.

Price Trends by Brand

Sony FE lenses continue to command the highest average prices on the used market, followed by Canon RF and Nikon Z. This reflects both the premium positioning of mirrorless systems and strong demand from content creators. Canon EF and Nikon F lenses offer the best value, with prices dropping as photographers transition to mirrorless.

  • Canon RF: Premium pricing, high demand for L-series glass
  • Canon EF: Best value — prices dropping as users migrate to RF
  • Nikon Z: Strong average prices, especially for S-line lenses
  • Nikon F: Affordable entry point with huge lens selection
  • Sony FE: Highest average prices, driven by creator demand
  • Sigma/Tamron: Best value-per-dollar across all mounts
